Roberto Schaeffer

Full Professor

Roberto Schaeffer is Full Professor of Energy Economics at the Energy Planning Program of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (PPE/COPPE/UFRJ), Brazil. He holds a PhD in Energy Management and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania. His research interests include integrated assessment modeling of energy, land-use and climate change mitigation. Dr. Schaeffer has contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in various roles over the past 25 years. Dr. Schaeffer has been Associate-Editor of "Energy-The International Journal" since 1998, and an elected member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences since 2021. Dr. Schaeffer was recipient of the 2020 Integrated Assessment Modelling Consortium (IAMC) "Award for Extraordinary Contribution to the Field of IAM", and recipient of the 2022 Brazilian Centre of Foreign Relations (CEBRI) "Academic Award".
